Today as per the guidelines of Central Zoo Authority, New – Delhi, a five day’s workshop on Specialized Theme Based Training Programme for Zoo Keepers on regional basis is conducted at Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad.

Sri. Munindra, I.F.S., Addl. PCCF (Wildlife & Admin), T.S., inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp at the Bio-scope hall, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, in the presence of Dr. Sidhanand Kukretty, I.F.S., Director Zoo Park, Smt. N. Kshitija, I.F.S., Curator and Sri. Syed Maqsood Mohiuddin, Asst. Conservator of Forests, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad.
On its first day 19 no’s zoo keepers from 5 different states of southern region (Telangana State, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka & Kerala), participated in the work shop. Speaking on the occasion Sri. Munindra, I.F.S., Addl. PCCF (Wildlife & Admin), T.S., said that the role played by the Animal Keeper is very vital and essential as the zoo animals have close bond with them. The topics which will be covered in the workshop are Upkeep of captive animals during breeding season and post natal care, feeding of animals in captivity, stress management, nutrition and feed, enclosure and sanitation and health care of captive animals. Later Sri. B. Laxmi Narayana, Biologist, gave a power point presentation on the management of Avian species in captivity. In the afternoon session, Sri. K. Shekhar Reddy, Asst. Conservator of Forests, (Retd.,) addressed the keepers and briefed them about the role of keepers in zoo management. The Animal Keepers were taken round the zoo especially at the birds enclosure and briefed about their hygiene, food habits, habitats, etc.,
